How to Double Your Salary Today! (Part 2)

In Part 1 of this series, we shared one of the best techniques to help you organize your projects and workflow, get your work done and become a top performer at work, set the path to get promoted and double your salary.

You can grab that blog post here.

Today, we’re sharing two more often overlooked power tools that can help you increase your productivity, get ahead, advance your career, double or triple your on-the-job performance, get promoted and double your salary.

Don’t worry. These two tips are straightforward and easy to implement.

What’s more, they Work time and time again!

In all the companies and organizations I have studied over the years, the key to getting ahead and getting a salary increase, getting a raise, is to add more and more value to the company!

Turning back to the popular TV Show, the “$64,000 Question” is How.

Ready? Let’s go!

Salary Booster Technique #1

  • Study the job specs (job specifications) or job description for:

  1. The position you currently hold – your current position; And,

  2. For the position that’s one level up from the position you hold today!

Realistically benchmark your current performance against the job specs.

And the job specs (job specifications) for the position that’s one level up from the position you hold today.

Don’t worry. You don’t have to discuss your self-assessment with anyone!

However, working with a trusted career mentor or career advisor can accelerate your advancement and help you succeed bigger, better and faster!

Identify the gaps between your current performance and the model performance (target performance). Increase your productivity; modify your behavior; develop new habits; and shed the habits and behaviors that are holding you back.

You can do this when you put your heart and mind to it!

I did. You Can Too!

The secret to Your greater success and greater productivity is to model your on-the-job performance based on the job specs / job description.

Salary Booster Technique #2

  • Ask your supervisor for candid feedback about your on-the-job performance; And,

  • Ask for ways you can improve your performance, how you can increase your productivity and add more value.

Periodically, maybe two or three times a year – ask to meet with your supervisor or boss to get candid, objective feedback.

Don’t wait until you receive your year-end performance evaluation. At that point It’s Too Late!

The die is cast!

If you want and feel that you have the rapport – the kind of relationship with your supervisor or boss – where you can ask this, ask whether you are up for promotion. And the kind of performance you would have to display to be eligible for a promotion.

Most organizations have a general timetable for promotions, a promotion cycle – for example, three years, five years, etc. If you’re not at the point in the promotion cycle where you’re likely to be considered for promotion, I wouldn’t ask. Instead, ask for candid feedback about your on-the-job performance.

  1. Continually look in the mirror and realistically rate your performance.

  2. How can you improve?

  3. What can you do better?

  4. What can you do to add more value, create more output to the company / organization?

Gear up; plan your path; upgrade your performance and position yourself to get promoted and double your salary!

Good luck and enjoy the ride! And take your money to the bank.

Let us know how it goes. . .

See you next week.
